Putting in the work

The intro to this project is a combo of Edgar Wright style zooms and quick cuts. It’s less than 30 seconds long but is composed of 19 separate shots. I storyboarded the entire sequence and it took two days to shoot, with over 100 takes. Using manual zoom (vs digital) was the biggest challenge.

The story behind this video comes from the heart. Much of my life is a battle between the digital world and the natural world, of trying to not only adventure outside and connect with nature, but to get my boys to do the same.

And lastly, I put a lot of time into the thumbnail—coming up with the idea, planning it, shooting it. It probably won’t make a difference in terms of views due to this being the first video of my new channel (Tychill), but I wanted to build the photography and Photoshop skills for future projects.
